Recently, SRK has made his statement and called Bajirao Mastani ‘niche’ and also added that the film in its genre is a historical story. But the Chennai Express co-star Deepika Padukone refused to accept SRK’s statement and said,

“I wouldn’t call Bajirao Mastani niche. One of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s strength is that in a film like ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ or a film like ‘Devdas’ or ‘Ram Leela’ or ‘Black’, he has his way of story telling but still makes it globally appealing. I don’t know what he(SRK) meant when he said niche but what I can say is both are very different films. I have worked with both directors (Rohit Shetty and Sanjay Leela Bhansali) and they have different things to offer. You can’t compare the two,” she added, “I agree that audiences will take time out to watch both films. Even I would watch both films as audience. While on one hand people are trying to create controversy around two films releasing on the same day, I am someone who looks at it the other way in the sense that I get to watch two films that are so unique.”

The other Bajirao Mastani co-star Priyanka Chopra has also stated that ‘Bajirao Mastani’ is not competing Dilwale. “I don’t think we are competing. I think both are beautiful and different kind of films. The genres of both the films are different, made by two prolific filmmakers. It has been made out as a competition, but it is not,” Priyanka added, “Being a part of this film, I would try to promote it as much as I can. We have Bajirao and Mastani, Sanjay Sir and I to promote the film. But, this product doesn’t need much promotion. When it is played, it speaks for itself.”

The duo anticipated movie stars are trying to promote their films as much as they can.

After the controversial remarks, the chief of the Indian National political party (MNSCS), Amey Khopkar has boycotted the movie Dilwale on Monday. He has his own arguments as he said, “While Shah Rukh donated Rs.10 million (Rs.1 crore) to the flood-hit people of Chennai, he seems to have forgotten the drought-hit farmers of Maharashtra. We strongly condemn this.” While on the other hand, Raj Thackeray, the president of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has declared that the decision of boycott by Amey is not an official decision. “I wish to make it clear that the MNS Chitrapat Sena’s (MNSCS) decision to boycott the film (Dilwale) is not the official stand of the party,” said Raj Thackeray.

When Shahrukh Khan was asked about the political party’s action, he stated, “People need a chance to express themselves and then they use public figures… People stand on the shoulders of public figures to say what they want to. It’s a small thing, but then we have to sit and justify and explain that we are patriotic and nationalist. I have a name since a lot of years now, Mashallah, and now it (controversy) happens every week or month… It’s strange that mostly it happens around the release of a film. There are opportunist people,” he added, “I get so much love from people…. I understand that these things don’t have any effect… Neither on us, our film, name or work.”
